About Me

Hey, I’m Lisa Clifford, founder of Shift Happens — a therapy space with heart, humour, and a whole lot of healing.

I’m a CBT therapist who works with people navigating anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, guilt, and burnout. I support a wide range of clients, including parents, those in the education sector, and anyone feeling stretched too thin or stuck in old patterns.

I'm particularly passionate about attachment work, inner child healing, and helping people build healthier boundaries.

As someone with ADHD, I also bring insight and empathy to neurodivergent experiences. Therapy with me is warm, down-to-earth, and rooted in real connection.

We’ll get to the bottom of what your anxiety is trying to tell you, while also developing tools to help manage the day-to-day symptoms that come with it.

Qualifications & Accreditation

  • Level 2 Certificate in Counselling Skills

  • Level 3 Certificate in Counselling Skills

  • FdSc in Counselling & Psychotherapy – specialising in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)

  • Accredited Registrant with the NCPS (National Counselling & Psychotherapy Society)

  • Individual member of BACP 01010965

  • Fully insured and regularly supervised practitioner

What You Can Expect

Therapy isn’t instant — and it’s not a quick fix. But it is powerful.

I know how important it is to feel safe, seen, and supported. That’s why I place so much value on the therapeutic relationship. We’ll go at your pace, creating space where you can explore who you are, what’s been holding you back, and how to move forward.

Whether you’re wrestling with anxiety, untangling years of guilt, or trying to figure out where your boundaries went — we’ll make sense of the why together, while also building practical strategies for daily life.

You don’t need to have it all figured out to begin.

Outside of the therapy room, I’m a proud mum of twins, living with a delightfully chaotic Dalmatian, and a lifelong believer that healing gets to be human — not perfect. You’re allowed to laugh, cry, feel stuck, or inspired — sometimes all in the same session.
